The unification of Europe will secure peace between the present and the future member states of the European Union. It will promote a balanced and sustainable economic, social and ecological progress in Europe.
The economic development and the overcoming of social tensions are important prerequisites for the solution of nationality conflicts. Most older people in Europe have experienced the brutality of totalitarian regimes and the cruelty of war under which they suffered. Only the more, they strive for peace in freedom and for the respect of human dignity, all the world over. This is of utmost importance not only for senior citizens but for all generations.
The admittance of new member states into the European Union will enlarge the area of peace and stability on the European continent and will have a positive impact internationally upon peace-making actions. The inclusion of candidate countries into the European unification process, therefore, lies in the interest of all member nations of the European Union which has, all through its existence, gained great economic and social advantages by the creation and the granting of free enterprise within its neighbourhood.
